The Earth got used up, and we found a new solar system and used terraforming technology to create hundreds of new Earths. The central planets formed the Alliance and decided that all worlds should unite under their rule. There was some disagreement on that point. After the Unification War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of the system, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies. A ship would bring you work, a gun would help you keep it. A captain’s goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying.

Excellent Adaptation

I am a long time pen/paper RPG player, starting from D+D, World of Darkness, Space Opera, and too many others to remember. And yes, I do indeed have a life. Anyway...I found this a well thought out, highly playable adaptation of an absolutely beautiful universe. Well worth the money. Will likely pick up some of the companion books in the near future.

Nice for browncoats, but lacking in resources

Perfect for fans of serenity, nice combat system but an unsupported badly designed character sheet (look for another one online) and a few omissions stop it from being 5 star. Plenty of places online to find printouts to fix what was left out.

This book does a very good job of getting you in the spirit of serenity. Its obvious it has been written by fans who love the subject material. The only problems with the book is that the website in which the character sheet (which isnt that good anyway) is down. Also, finding a specific awnswer to a players question is difficult since the catogory system is complicated. Even so if your interested in leading a group of browncoats through the verse, its a must have.

Don't Miss This Game

This game is truly a lot of fun. It has plenty of action, adventure, and mystery. I would recommend it to a lot of people.

The nice thing about this game is that your stats are dice rolls (Strength might be d6 for example). You don't have to be stuck with lousy characteristics. Another nice thing is that you can spend your points (not just experience points, but character creation points) freely, with the GM's permission. There are no experience levels in this game--just lots of fun rolled into a nice book. But don't take my word for it. Read other reviews and find out if this book is right for you.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could.

Serenity RPG from pov of a dnd gamer

Having experience in roleplaying games of mostly the d20 era, this game has little to nothing in common with them. However, this is a wonderful book for any fan of the Firefly show or Serenity the movie. 'Serenity' written by Jamie Chambers is extremely well done and well thought out. The flow is easy to lose yourself in and quite enjoyable if you are in the least bit interested in the show. It is its own game and stands well if you and your players are after a flowing and exciting game that relies heavily upon focus, skill, and luck. It contains detailed game information of the main cast of the show as well as the ship, and provides many more items of the realm. I would recommend this to any dnd gamer who is interested in the show, even if just for a good read. That being said, this is not compatible with d20 and is only balanced inside itself.
